  • A half-life study is one that helps to establish how long factor VIII stays in your blood.
  • Samples of blood are taken following a dose of factor VIII, over a period of time,(which can be as long as 72 hours) to see how long the factor stays in the blood
  • In small children this can be impractical, in this case a sample is taken before the dose of factor VIII (48-72 hours after the last dose of factor VIII) and then one hour after it is administered
